The short answer
- Use Remotion when video is an output of your software: thousands of personalised renders, or a video feature inside your own app.
- Use Dailies when a person, or a person with an AI, is crafting one video and wants to drag, key and review it on a timeline.
Side by side
| Feature | Dailies | Remotion |
|---|---|---|
| You work in | A visual editor with a timeline | Code: React components |
| Made for | Crafting a product video | Programmatic video and automation |
| Keyframes and easing | Drawn on a timeline, with graphs and motion paths | Written in code |
| Team review | Comments pinned to a moment | Build your own, or use your code review |
| Scale | One video at a time | Built for rendering at scale, with Remotion Lambda |
Where Dailies is the better fit
Motion is much easier to judge when you can scrub it and drag a key than when you change a number and re-run. A designer or marketer can work in Dailies with no code, and your AI app can edit the same Shots over MCP. If you do write code, your own React components can be placed in a Shot, with their props as animatable properties.
Where Remotion is the better pick
Remotion is a strong choice for automation: generating videos from data, rendering at scale and embedding a player in your own product. Dailies is not built for pipelines of thousands of renders.
Remotion's pricing page lists a free license for teams of up to 3 people, a per-seat Creators plan, and a per-render Automators plan. Checked 5 November 2026; see their page for current terms.
