Pick one thing to say
Write the sentence you want someone to repeat after watching. Not a feature list: one claim. “Your changelog writes itself” is a message. “AI-powered, collaborative and fast” is not. If you cannot write that sentence yet, no amount of animation will fix it.
Write three to five Shots
A shape that works for most launches:
- The hook. The promise, or the problem in the viewer's words.
- The product. The real screen doing the one thing you claimed.
- The proof. A second moment that makes the first believable.
- The end card. Your logo and where to go next.
Write one line for each. If a Shot needs two sentences, it is probably two Shots.
Give each Shot a length
Read your words out loud and time them. That is the shortest a Shot can be. Then add a beat for the eye to land. On a Dailies Storyboard each card holds its own length, and you can see the whole video's running time as you change them.
Sketch, do not design
A rough sketch on each card answers the question that matters: what is on screen when this line is said? Pin a reference image to a card if you have seen the look you want. Save the polish for the Shot itself.
Get it checked now
Share the plan before you animate, while changing it costs nothing. In Dailies a comment can pin to a Storyboard card, so feedback lands on the Shot it is about, and you can resolve the thread once it is settled.
Then build in order of risk
Build the Shot you are least sure about first, usually the product beat. Mark each Shot built when it looks right, so the Storyboard shows how far along you are. If you connect an AI app, it can read the same Storyboard and draft the Shots from your plan.
